Transglobalistas!
I wanted to share with you one of the MANY rabbit holes that slowed me down during the production of Travelbook #1. Before Mongolia (and thanks to GoPro and my skydiving addiction), I was a video-only guy. This trip was the transition to photography, but I shot a LOT of video footage while riding across the country. I had always planned to create a “Travel Documentary in Four Movements”—basically four music videos—but that never happened. I did complete II. The Road, and drafts for movements I and IV (included here).
Yeah, I know: blah blah blah. BUT…this “movement” centered around portraits, and a great many of the folks in this rough edit appear in the final travelbook. As raw as it is, it makes me exceedingly happy. Those of you who end up buying the book can compare its portraits—enhanced by my captions—with the animated versions found in Movement IV.
I know full well that it’s different for me (because every snippet ties to a concrete memory) but give it a try anyway.
Hasta pronto,
—jim
