[ Ciudad de México ]
After a lovely extended Christmas holiday with the family matriarch (aka “mom”), Tejas is once again in the rear-view. For the second time in my life I find myself in Mexico’s glorious, bustling capital city, the Distrito Federal, Ciudad de México, or simply México. This is but a brief stop en route to Zitácuaro, where I will rejoin Fargo and continue my journey southward toward Oaxaca, Guatemala, and beyond.
Although my pit stop in the United States was productive on many fronts, social media and blogging catch-up was not amongst them. I took a complete break from all online activities and as a result I’ve got a pretty large cache of photos and stories to unload.
In the next forty-eight hours I’ll also have news about an advance reconnaissance trip to either Colombia or Guatemala—a perhaps-unavoidable necessity to extend my Mexican FMM. The FMM is the multiple entry document authorizing my six-month stay in-country, and—thanks to a regrettable SNAFU at the border—did not get renewed during last Sunday’s reentry into Mexico. I’ll try to resolve the issue at the airport next Monday, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, enjoy some preliminary glimpses into Mexico City.
Take care y nos vemos,
