And the not-so-long-anticipated sequel: images from days 6-8 of [what turned out to be] an eight-day, agenda-free trip around Ladakh. Due to weather considerations in Spiti Valley, I diverted back to Manali last night, at the last moment. Tons of rainfall meant some river crossings would have been impossible in the Valley without perfect luck or incredibly precise timing–an unlike occurrence on the roads in Spiti.
Even the diversion back to Manali was hair-raising, with the last 70km taking four hours–riding blind through rain/snow clouds at 4000m (13.5K feet), on treacherous roads. It was adventure enough for one day, or eight, even.
The final two days were non-stop riding, so I decided to enjoy the feel of the wind and the simple task of riding, rather than being “on-assignment” and taking tons of pics. Nevertheless, a handful emerged.
As usual, the details are in the captions.
