[ Varanasi ]
Despite a raging, debilitating sinus infection, I wandered Banaras’ hot, humid streets for six hours the other day, wending my way northward from Assi Ghat. Along the way, I engaged lots of shopkeepers, craftsmen, chefs, and drivers in brief conversation, slowly getting a picture of their daily lives.
After several hours of this, I ended up on the Ganges near sunset, and paid ₹100 ($1.50) for an hour-long boat ride.
Come with me and take a quick peek behind the scenes of Varanasi’s vibrant street life.
